Azerbaijan to Establish Checkpoint on Route to Berdzor, Aghavno, and Sus Soon, Says Tigran Abrahamyan
A meeting of the Security Council in Artsakh has been convened, during which the connection corridor between the Republic of Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia was discussed. This was reported by MP Tigran Abrahamyan.
“The Azerbaijani side, through the peacekeeping contingent deployed in Artsakh, has made a demand to organize traffic on a new route in the near future,” the statement from the meeting said.
In simple terms, Azerbaijan will soon set up a checkpoint on the segment leading to Berdzor, Aghavno, and Sus, and movement from Armenia to Artsakh will be organized via an unfinished road.
Let me remind you that for quite some time, Azerbaijan has been constructing a new 32 km road parallel to the Lachin corridor, which is supposed to start from the village of Kornidzor in Armenia and continue to the villages of Metz Shen and Hinshen in the Shushi region, bypassing the cities of Berdzor, Sus, and Aghavno.
Currently, only a small section of the road has been asphalted, meaning Azerbaijan is directing traffic along an unfinished dirt road. Furthermore, on the route to Kornidzor, where the Armenian government must build a 7 km road from scratch, no work has yet begun, complicating the situation in this regard as well...
