VIDEO: Water Swept Children Away from Parents’ Arms, Death Toll from Devastating Floods in the US

Severe flooding has struck the United States, particularly in eastern Kentucky, where at least 37 lives have been claimed. Among the victims are children, including four siblings aged between 1 and 8 years. The American service of BBC reports that the floodwaters swept the children right from their parents' arms.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear stated that the death toll is expected to rise as hundreds of people are still considered missing, and search efforts continue. More than 12,000 households are without electricity, and hundreds of homes and businesses are submerged.

The damage to roads, bridges, and other infrastructure is estimated to cost millions of dollars.
