Earlier, media reports indicated that Pelosi, who occupies the third most important position in the U.S. government hierarchy, plans to visit Taiwan in August. This was reported by the Financial Times and Politico newspapers. According to publications, she was initially scheduled to visit in April but canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. This visit will mark the first by a U.S. House Speaker to the island in 25 years.
