VIDEO: Andreasyan on the Case of Armen Grigoryan Who Died in Court
On July 28, Justice Minister Karen Andreasyan addressed the incident concerning producer Armen Grigoryan's death in the courtroom. He expressed that he had not had the opportunity to publicly share his deep sorrow.
“The death of any person is a tragedy. In this case, we have published that there was not a single medical issue in the penitentiary that was not addressed, there were no serious problems or complaints that would warrant a revision of the detention measure,” Andreasyan stated during a briefing with reporters at the government office.
Regarding other detainees with health issues, the minister assured that they are doing everything to ensure that no incarcerated individual has health problems. “We truly care for them,” Andreasyan emphasized.
He highlighted that any tragedy should serve as a signal for all bodies, including the courts, to be even more attentive when there are complaints from incarcerated individuals.
“I hope that certain individuals do not exploit or misuse any incident, any tragedy, to evade justice under the guise of false health issues. This is a matter of balance; we are working on it,” he added.
