It's Good That You're Here: Cartoon of Aliyev and Ursula von der Leyen Published in Malta

A Maltese newspaper has published a cartoon featuring Ilham Aliyev and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

In the cartoon, the "reliable partner" of the EU is addressing von der Leyen with the words, "It's good that you're here." The publication not only criticizes the EU agreement with Aliyev's authoritarian regime but also reminds of the corrupt ties between the Maltese government and the Absheron region.

Due to such investigations, journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia was murdered in Malta in 2017.

The Maltatoday article states, "As a Maltese, we cannot afford to be holier than the Pope, yet we must recognize the dangers of playing with fire."
