Euronews and CNN Invite Tourists to Armenia
Euronews and CNN are inviting tourists to Armenia. In particular, the Euronews television channel has highlighted Armenia's potential as an "undiscovered" tourist destination on its website in the tourism section.
Tourists are encouraged to look beyond the capital of Armenia and explore rural and mountainous regions. Sisian Poghosyan, the head of Armenia's tourism committee, spoke about the country's attractions and hidden gems. "A new slogan has emerged: 'Armenia. The Hidden Path.' We have amazing natural landscapes and pristine terrains for hiking and adventure tourism," he noted.
The authors recommend visiting the village of Areni in the Vayots Dzor region, where the ruins of Areni-1, one of the oldest wineries in the world, can be seen. Discovered in a cave complex in 2007, it dates back to 4100 BC.
It is noted that in Armenia, one can discover the rich religious and spiritual heritage of one of the world's oldest Christian civilizations, with the first churches established in the fourth century.
Meanwhile, CNN Travel included Armenia in its list of the world's best 23 hiking trails, mentioning that an 11-day journey through Armenia and along the Silk Road includes the best routes connecting the UNESCO-protected monasteries of Sanahin and Haghpat. During the itinerary, tourists traverse limestone peaks and lush forests, with the opportunity to climb the Geghama mountain range and ascend the peak of Armenia's highest mountain, Aragats.
