Gas Prices in Europe Rise to Nearly $1900
Gas prices on European exchanges have increased by 12% today, reaching $1890 per thousand cubic meters, according to data from the London ICE exchange.
In August, futures contracts for gas supply opened at $1680 per thousand cubic meters in today’s trading session (-0.5% from Friday's $1686) and recorded a slight increase of 3-4% during the first hours of trading. After 14:30 Moscow time, the quotes briefly accelerated their growth rate, reaching nearly $1800 (+6.6%), before stabilizing for a while at $1780 (+5.4%).
Earlier, as reported by Kp.ru, it was noted that oil and gas prices worldwide have set records. It was pointed out that the main profits are currently being generated by other producers, namely the USA and countries in the Middle East, as the demand for their oil has sharply increased. More than half of Russian exports go to the European Union. Major consumers are trying to abandon Russian 'toxic' oil, not only for political reasons.
