“Today we will explode you, we will start attacks”: Letter from Islamic group to the Ministry of Emergency Situations
We have received a letter of this nature, and we have informed the regional centers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MoES) to be vigilant while carrying out their duties. This was stated by Haik Kostanyan, spokesman for the MoES, in an interview with Auroranews, adding that no correspondence has been sent to the regional administrations or governors.
Kostanyan reported that so far this year, the MoES has received 26 false reports regarding bomb placements.
Earlier, “Hraparak” wrote: “The Ministry of Emergency Situations has, according to our information, recently sent a letter to all regional administrations and its subordinate structures, urging them to implement strict security measures, as official circles in Armenia have received threatening letters from Turkey, claiming that a large quantity of military supplies and explosives have been brought into Armenia and terrorist acts will begin in administrative buildings, the metro, etc. “This day will be remembered by all. My hatred for infidels has been evident since the day of my birth; all of you will be annihilated. Greetings, bastards. We are the ‘Islamic State’ organization. Today we will explode you; about a hundred homemade explosive devices have been placed. We have managed to bring bombs. We will also start attacks on city administrative buildings; all stations of the Yerevan metro are mined. We have many supporters who are armed to the teeth. We have plenty of weapons and ammunition, AK-47s, grenades, RPGs, and bullets. We demand that the entire government of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, and the President of Armenia resign, as well as five bitcoins be transferred to my cryptocurrency wallet... Die, Christian scum. There is no God but Allah; Allahu Akbar. Armenia will be an Islamic Wilaya”.
We were told that the bomb threat in the Yerevan metro on July 20 is seen as a continuation of this letter, and the temporary closure of the metro for several hours was also related to this. In general, there has been a significant increase in false bomb threats recently. A few days ago, there was a bomb threat regarding the house of Armenia’s first President Ter-Petrosyan, who supposedly had a bomb planted. Fortunately, all reports have turned out to be false, but the frequent occurrence of bomb threats is concerning in itself and can lead to anxiety and panic among the public.
It seems that the Turkish-Azerbaijani coalition has moved the war to the territory of Armenia after the conflict over Artsakh, but with one difference: these are not ordinary military actions but psychological warfare, a hybrid war, and through this, they are attempting to paralyze life in Armenia, spreading panic and anxiety so that we fulfill all their demands.
If we add to this the recent appearance of a representative of the Turkish “Grey Wolves” organization in Tsitsernakaberd and the threatening statements directed at Armenians, it becomes clear what situation the Armenian state is in, which can be said to have neither a proper army, nor a national security service capable of ensuring safety, nor a competent and prepared police force.
