Armenia and Iran Do Not Need Turkey's Council, Says Iranian MP
Armenia and Iran do not need Turkey's council. This was stated by Shahriar Heydari, chairman of the Iranian Parliament's Committee on Foreign Relations. He reiterated Ali Khamenei's words about Iran not allowing the border between Iran and Armenia to be closed, as reported by Iribnews.
Pointing out the strategic position of the Republic of Armenia, he emphasized, "This creates numerous issues for Armenia, one of which was the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with Azerbaijan, which ended in military confrontation, but this issue needs to be resolved seriously and through diplomatic means. Iran has always believed that the two countries should solve this issue politically."
He noted that certain foreign powers wish to create a corridor leading to Nakhchivan through Armenian territory, but Armenia and Iran emphasize that the territorial integrity of the countries in the region must be preserved.
"We have a 47 km border with Armenia, part of which is defined by the Aras River, and we will not allow these borders to be violated. The border between Iran and Armenia has always been secure, and both countries are taking measures to prevent any illegal movements and infringements on the border, and do not need any consultation from a third party, such as Turkey," he added.
