VIDEO: Increase in Coronavirus Cases; Minister Discusses Possible Restrictions

In the past month, there has been an increase in coronavirus cases in Armenia, said Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan in a conversation with journalists at the government.

This, according to the minister, is linked to the activation of travel, as well as the active development of the wave in European countries. “We anticipated that there would be an influx of the infection, and we are monitoring it vigilantly; the healthcare system is prepared for any development. In the coming two weeks, we will understand whether the wave is trending upward or if we are heading towards stabilization,” the minister noted.

If the epidemic situation worsens to the extent that restrictions are necessary, the ministry will take that step, but at the moment, such a situation does not exist. “Our advice is to wear masks when visiting medical centers, as it is a risky environment,” Avanesyan said.

The minister also urges the public to receive a booster shot against coronavirus by September.
