Request to Russian Ombudsman to Support Return of Detainees
On July 21, the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Kristine Grigoryan, held a video conference meeting with the Russian Commissioner for Human Rights, Tatiana Moskalkova.
During the meeting, Moskalkova presented the issues faced by Armenian families entering Russian territory across the Russo-Ukrainian border and the efforts and assistance provided by the Commissioner to address these issues. Grigoryan expressed gratitude to Moskalkova for her crucial work and presented the ongoing activities of the Human Rights Defender's office, particularly the results of meetings with families of military captives and civilians detained during the post-war period, as well as families of missing persons.
The Defender requested the support of the Russian Commissioner in facilitating the return of military captives and civilians held in Azerbaijan and in providing information to families regarding missing persons. Agreements were also reached to strengthen existing multilateral cooperation platforms and to develop a new format for expanded cooperation. Moskalkova invited Grigoryan to participate in the annual meeting of the Eurasian Ombudsmen Alliance, which will be held at the end of November in Moscow. Grigoryan accepted the invitation.
