Parent Council President Fell on Child While Removing Curtain: New Details on the Tragic Incident

Recently, an unfortunate incident occurred at the Torgom Postanjyan Secondary School in Baghramyan village. While cleaning the classroom, 38-year-old M.S. stood on a table, which led to the accident. The table collapsed, and the mother fell onto her 2-year-old son, E.T. The child sustained a cranial trauma and succumbed after fighting for his life in a coma for 12 days.

In a conversation with Radar Armenia, the school's principal Astghik Harutyunyan, despite finding it difficult to discuss the matter, stated: “She climbed up to remove the curtain, and the child was there.” When we asked the principal why the school did not have janitors and why a parent took it upon herself to wash the windows, she replied: “It was the Parent Council President, and the teacher tried to organize it that way. Please allow me not to speak further at this moment; I cannot, I do not want to.”

We also posed this question to the assistant of the Ararat Province Governor, who informed us that all schools have janitors. “Currently, there is a criminal case ongoing, and the relevant authorities will clarify how the incident happened and how the woman was involved in the cleaning. We are not authorized to make any statements at this moment.”

It is noteworthy that we also reached out to the Ararat Province Governor, but Governor Sedrak Tevonyan is currently on vacation and did not wish to comment on the matter.
