Police Disperse Protest in Baku Demanding Opening of Azerbaijan's Land Borders, Arrests Made

In Baku, police have dispersed a protest taking place in front of the Government building, where participants demanded the opening of Azerbaijan's land borders.

According to Turan, the police arrested most of the protesters, approximately 25 individuals.

The report notes that among those arrested were women, including elderly individuals, as well as veterans of the war.

Azerbaijan's land borders with Russia and Georgia have been closed since March 2020, and since July 1, 2022, authorities have also closed land borders with Turkey and Iran, creating serious issues for the majority of Azerbaijani citizens who cannot afford to travel abroad by purchasing expensive airline tickets.
