16-Year-Old Girl Killed in Hit-and-Run; Driver Found

As a result of initiated measures, the officers of the Artashat division of the police have established that Alvard Arzumanyan was struck by a 44-year-old resident of the Sari Tagh neighborhood of Yerevan, who was driving an Opel Astra. Following operational-investigative measures and in cooperation with the officers of the Erebuni division, the 44-year-old man was located and arrested on July 19 at 8:00 PM on one of the streets in Sari Tagh, Yerevan. He has been taken to the Artashat division of the police, and the vehicle has been moved to a secure area of the division.

The man has been presented to the investigative body.

The 16-year-old girl who was struck in the hit-and-run has unfortunately passed away. It is notable that at 5:45 AM on July 16, a report was received from the hospital indicating that there was a body near a bridge in the village of Voskepaz. The operational group of the police department in Vedi, which arrived at the scene, clarified that around 5:00 AM, on the 25th kilometer of the Yerasx-Yerevan road, in the area of the village of Voskepaz, an unknown driver had hit 16-year-old Alvard Arzumanyan, resulting in her death.

Measures are being taken to identify the unknown vehicle and driver. An investigation is underway.
