Why do authorities want to expedite the border delimitation process?

The newspaper Hraparak reports that a meeting of the commissions on border delimitation and border security between Armenia and Azerbaijan will take place in August. The office of Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan announced yesterday that it will be held in Moscow.

There is still no final agreement on the specific date of the meeting. On May 24, 2022, the first meeting took place at the interstate border between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the framework of joint work of the commissions on border delimitation and security with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev.

Reports suggest that Armenian authorities want to expedite the process as much as possible and aim to sign the agreement by the end of August, when political life will be at a complete standstill, allowing Prime Minister Pashinyan to push it through without difficulties and resistance.
