Armenia-Turkey Relations Are a Separate Issue: Armen Grigoryan on the Pashinyan-Erdoğan Phone Call
The phone call between Pashinyan and Erdoğan is yet another important step in the context of normalizing relations. This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, during a public broadcast.
He noted that during the conversation, they addressed issues that were discussed during the Rubinyan-Kılıç meeting, such as opening the border for citizens of third countries.
“We hope that the agreements can be implemented in a very short time. We hope that in the context of normalizing relations, we will be able to open the border for citizens of Armenia and Turkey,” he said.
According to him, relations will be normalized without preconditions. “It is a false narrative that we have allegedly made a precondition; there is no such precondition,” Grigoryan stated.
When asked about the repeated emphasis from Turkish officials that any step forward in Armenian-Turkish relations is linked to Azerbaijan, the Secretary of the Security Council responded, “We are discussing this as a bilateral relationship; our approach is that Armenia-Turkey is a separate issue.”
