Video: Various Drugs Found in Postal Deliveries, Says State Revenue Committee

The State Revenue Committee reports that recently the Investigative Committee received information that through one of the courier service companies, packages imported into the Republic of Armenia contain narcotics brought in through smuggling.

“As part of the cooperation between the State Revenue Committee and the Investigative Committee, the mentioned information was passed on to the Anti-Smuggling Department of the SRC to identify these packages and discover the narcotics smuggled into the Republic of Armenia using them.

Within the customs control zone of the 'Cargo' terminal at Zvartnots Airport, packages imported from the United States to Armenia were subjected to customs inspection by the operational intelligence unit of the Anti-Smuggling Department of the SRC and the staff of the Zvartnots divisions. As a result, from one of the packages, 333 grams of methamphetamine and 37 grams of powdered cocaine were found in the internal parts of a printer. From the second package, 112 grams of methamphetamine and 53 grams of powdered cocaine were also discovered in the internal parts of a printer.

In total, from the aforementioned two packages, 445 grams of methamphetamine and 90 grams of powdered cocaine were found. The discovered narcotics, as well as the items found in the packages, have been transferred by the staff of the Anti-Smuggling Department of the SRC to the relevant department of the Investigative Committee for further procedural actions,” the statement said.
