Major Accident Occurs in Yerevan: Ambulance Collides with Opel
A major traffic accident occurred in Yerevan today, on July 19. At around 13:00, an ambulance of the Haise brand collided with an Opel Vectra on Tbilisi Highway.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamsyan, one person was injured in the accident and received first aid from the workers of a nearby oil change station before the ambulance arrived. The injured was then transported by the arriving ambulance to the St. Gregory the Illuminator Medical Center.
As a result of the collision, the ambulance veered off and struck the wall of a residential building, also damaging a wooden pole and the gas meter post.
The situation escalated at the accident scene when a group of citizens began to argue with the ambulance driver, leading to a physical confrontation. However, thanks to the prompt actions of the police, the situation did not escalate further.
The police and investigative department are working to identify the drivers involved and the injured party.
According to G. Shamsyan's information, the ambulance is registered under the Abovyan Medical Center and was transporting a patient from one of Yerevan's hospitals.
