Dozens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars in investments will be made. Kherobyan on the construction of a statue of Jesus Christ on Mount Hatis

Participation in our events does not necessarily imply that all relevant decisions by the government have been made, and that construction work has already passed through the necessary procedures. This was stated by the Minister of Economy Vahan Kherobyan during an appearance on ‘Azatutyun’ regarding his participation in the launch of the monumental statue of Jesus Christ on the summit of Mount Hatis.

“This is an event to kick off some project, and there is no talk of construction yet. Naturally, this project must go through all procedures and, after obtaining approvals, proceed to the working phase. Of course, there is great enthusiasm both from the investor and the Prime Minister, who has publicly endorsed this project during his speeches, but evidently none of us intends to implement projects in violation of the law. Everything will be done according to the established legal framework,” the minister assured.

According to him, if the program is realized, it will attract a significant flow of tourists as well. “The area of Mount Hatis is actually desolate; there are hikes taking place, but the activity is minimal compared to what is expected. If the project is realized, there will be investments amounting to dozens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars. Investments in historical and cultural areas are not excluded, but there are specific regulations for making investments. Various agencies must give their consent, and the historical and cultural environment must not be disrupted,” he noted.
