VIDEO: How the Sevan Cleaning Station Was Destroyed – The Journalist Details

It was probably 1998, when I saw large trucks carrying new, long, large-diameter pipes on the interstate highway in the town of Noyemberyan. I asked one of the drivers what those pipes were for. He said they were for the Sevan collector, the cleaning station, and they were transporting them to the Ayrum station, where the pipes would be dismantled and exported as metal scrap abroad. I wrote an article about it, and it received a lot of attention across the republic. This is noted by journalist Voskanyan Sargsyan.

“People appeared who held a press conference in Yerevan and announced that the pipes from the collector built for the cleaning of water entering Sevan were being sold to build a 'Human Development Center' for children in Yerevan. Of course, no center was ever built. I was informed by a special organization that this was being carried out by the ruling elite of that time. Sevan saved Armenia from famine in the 1990s with its carp, but Sevan became an object of looting,” he wrote.
