We Want All of Armenia’s Borders, Without Exception, to Be Handed Over to the Border Guards: Nikol Pashinyan

The current government of Armenia wants all borders to be handed over to the border guards. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this at a ceremonial event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Border Troops of the National Security Service. The information was reported by the Prime Minister's press service.

"We want all borders of the Republic of Armenia, without exception, to be handed over to the control of the border troops, and the military units to return to permanent deployment locations. This is precisely what we mean by adopting a peace agenda when we state that the government of Armenia has embraced a peace agenda," he said.

Pashinyan also emphasized that they are aware of the complexities associated with this situation. "Unfortunately, the security challenges facing our country have not only not been resolved but continue to be concerning. We all, especially the political leadership of the country, must work to ensure peace and stability along our country’s borders," noted the Prime Minister.

According to Pashinyan, the border troops are generally considered a symbol of peace because the borders they protect are usually regarded as peaceful borders. He presented state awards for bravery and dedication shown while defending the homeland's borders. Captain Hrant Arzumanyan was posthumously awarded the Medal of Valor, while Sergeant Karen Sargsyan received the Medal for Military Service. The awards were handed over to their families. Pashinyan also awarded the Medal for Military Service to Lieutenant Colonel Vahan Hambardzumyan and Captain Vladimir Tumasyan.
