Penitentiary Service Issues Clarification on Armen Grigoryan's Health Condition
The Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia has issued a clarification regarding the health condition of Armen Grigoryan, who passed away on June 15.
According to the clarification published on the Ministry of Justice's Facebook page, Armen Grigoryan was admitted to the 'Armavir' penitentiary institution on May 18, 2022. Information provided by the Penitentiary Service indicates that, throughout his time in the institution, no verbal reports, requests, or inquiries regarding potential health issues were submitted by Armen Grigoryan himself, his lawyer, or any other person.
Furthermore, based on oral inquiries conducted with individuals who shared the cell with Grigoryan, it was found that he also did not present any complaints about his health condition during his entire stay in the penitentiary.
According to information provided by the 'Armavir' subdivision of the Penitentiary Medical Center, upon entry into the institution, no physical injuries were recorded during the initial examination by the on-duty nurse; blood pressure was recorded at 170/110. Tests for HCV, HIV, and COVID-19 returned negative results. On May 19, 2022, Grigoryan underwent a medical examination by the facility doctor, where he reported complaints of headaches, dizziness, and occasional high blood pressure, with blood pressure recorded at 160/100. He was preliminarily diagnosed with Stage I-II Hypertension and Neurocirculatory Dystonia/Vegetative Dystonia, based on his medical history.
During his time in detention, Armen Grigoryan was under the supervision of the medical personnel of the same division and received antihypertensive treatment, with hemodynamic data reported within normal limits.
Additionally, it is noted that no documentation regarding Grigoryan's health condition has been addressed to the aforementioned division. At the same time, further studies are being conducted to verify the completeness of the information provided by the Penitentiary Service and the Penitentiary Medical Center.
