No Document About Illness Was Submitted. Judge on Armen Grigoryan
Today in the courtroom, producer Armen Grigoryan suddenly passed away. He had been in custody since May 18. The decision to detain him was made by Judge Arusyak Aleksanyan of the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction, who also imposed detention sanctions on Avetik Chalabyan, Mamikon Aslanyan, Mika Badalyan, and Narek Mantashyan. It should be reminded that before becoming a judge, Aleksanyan was an investigator, working at the Special Investigation Service from 2018 to 2022, when the head was Sasun Khachatryan.
Hraparak.am spoke with Arusyak Aleksanyan, inquiring about what she could say regarding the death of producer Armen Grigoryan, as she has been directly or indirectly blamed on the internet for the producer’s death, with accusations of conducting political persecution and making a detention decision against an intellectual who had not committed a criminal offense but had merely criticized Pashinyan and his government. Aleksanyan responded, "I have the impression that there is a significant group of people who are just waiting for something bad to happen so that this parade can begin, but I do not want to comment further on that. Regarding the legality and justification of the detention, I declare with utmost responsibility that no document, whether medical or of any other nature, has been submitted by either the defense or the investigator indicating that Mr. Grigoryan had any kind of illness. Even verbally, such information has not been presented to the court."
Regarding the death of Armen Grigoryan, Aleksanyan said, "I deeply sympathize with his relatives, and the only thing I feel sorry for is that a person has died. I see no need for concern on any other occasion."
