Journalist Tehmine Enokyan's Report Leads to Criminal Proceedings, Former Fiancé Arrested

The Investigative Committee of Armenia is taking necessary measures to clarify the circumstances mentioned in the reports submitted by Tehmine Enokyan, a resident of Yerevan, to the Prosecutor General's Office, as well as those provided by her mother.

According to the Investigative Committee, Enokyan reported that on June 29, 2022, around 00:30, while in her apartment, she heard the sound of a gunshot. Hours later, around 06:30, she noticed that the glass of one of the living room windows was broken.

Additionally, on July 12, 2022, Enokyan reported that at approximately 00:50, shots were fired at the window of her apartment at 26 Shoproni Street in Yerevan, resulting in property damage amounting to 50,000 AMD.

Based on the aforementioned reports, criminal proceedings have been initiated under Articles 334, 335, and 297, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code.

Furthermore, it should be noted that several months ago, Enokyan's mother reported that between March 6 at 13:00 and March 9 at 10:20 of this year, an unidentified person had set fire to the lower part of their apartment's entrance door, causing property damage. A criminal case had been initiated in relation to that incident on March 17, 2022, under Part 2, Point 1 of Article 185 of the former Criminal Code of Armenia.

Considering the need for a proper and comprehensive investigation due to the factual connection of these criminal proceedings, a decision was made to merge the said criminal cases.

As a result of extensive investigative actions and measures taken by the police, a reasonable suspicion arose regarding the commission of a crime, leading to the arrest of Enokyan's former fiancé, who during interrogation provided a confession.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
