No Military Personnel Sitting in Offices: Suren Papikyan Expresses Anger
The newspaper “Zhoghovurd” reports that following the adoption of the law on Defense, a closed-door meeting took place at the Ministry of Defense where Minister Suren Papikyan raised the issue of military personnel sitting in offices. He stated that from now on, there will be no military personnel working in cabinet positions, and everyone must go to the border.
According to our sources at the Ministry of Defense, some officials are not planning to remain silent about these changes and intend to voice concerns regarding the placement of relatives and acquaintances within the Ministry during discussions with Minister Papikyan. Specifically, officials have insisted that he review nearly all departments where heads have arranged jobs for their spouses.
Reports suggest that in the main department of information and public relations at the Ministry of Defense, all employees have been hired on the basis of their marital connections, while within the missile troops and artillery department of the Armed Forces, similar hiring practices involving wives and also relatives have been observed. Moreover, the brother of Deputy Chief of the General Staff Arakel Martikyan has been appointed as the deputy head overseeing internal security within the Military Police, and this trend appears to continue.
The newspaper “Zhoghovurd” will address the ongoing nepotism process within the Ministry of Defense in its upcoming issues, highlighting what Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan previously rejected but is now being implemented on a broad scale.
