HEC to Be Fined 20 Million Drams

HEC to Be Fined 20 Million Drams

According to the 'Hayastani Akhbar' newspaper, the 'Electric Networks of Armenia' company will be fined 20 million drams. The decision will be made today by the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia. 'Hayastani Akhbar' has learned that the company is being penalized for violating the deadlines for connecting consumption systems to the electric network.

It turns out that HEC has, in several cases, failed to adhere to the deadlines set for connecting consumption systems to the electric network, which has directly resulted in the violation of the rights or legal interests of a group of consumers. Furthermore, the justifications presented by the company have not been sufficient to exempt it from responsibility.

For instance, for the fourth quarter of 2021, 235 applicants’ consumption systems had not been connected to the electric network by the end of the reporting quarter, and 308 applicants for the first quarter of 2022 were also connected later than scheduled. Whether HEC will appeal the commission's decision will be seen over time.

Details can be found in today's issue of the newspaper.
