Who is the New Press Secretary of the Ministry of Defense?

The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, has appointed Aram Torosyan as the new press secretary of the Ministry of Defense.

Aram Torosyan was born on January 8, 1993, in the village of Nerk’in Bazmaberd, Aragatsotn Province. He studied at Secondary School No. 139 named after Karen Demirchyan in Yerevan from 1999 to 2009 and graduated with honors.

From 2009 to 2013, he studied in the Department of Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology of Yerevan State University. During 2011-2013, he worked in the Archives and Archival Studies Department of the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts (Matenadaran) as a laboratory assistant.

From 2013 to 2015, he served in the Defense Army's N Defense Region. During his service, he was awarded by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia and various military commanders for his role as the president of the non-commissioned officers council of the defense region and as a correspondent for the “Martik” newspaper of the Defense Army.

From 2015 to 2017, he pursued a master's degree at Yerevan State University in the same faculty. Simultaneously, from 2015 to 2016, he continued his work at the Matenadaran as a laboratory assistant.

In 2017, he transitioned to the position of editor of the Matenadaran’s website and public relations coordinator. In 2018, he was appointed as the acting director of the Matenadaran-Gandzasar Scientific and Cultural Center, and from 2019 to 2022, he held the position of director.

He has been awarded the “Gratitude” medal of Artsakh and the “25th Anniversary of the Artsakh Movement” commemorative medal. Aram Torosyan is not affiliated with any political party, is married, and has one child.
