Even If I Brought Heaven to Armenia Instead of Christ's Statue, There Would Be People Speaking Against It, Says Tsarukyan

The leader of the Prosperous Armenia party, Gagik Tsarukyan, has been aware since the inception of the idea to erect a monumental statue of Jesus that there would be dissenters and critics. In an exclusive interview with the 'Haykakan Zhamanak' newspaper, Tsarukyan states that even if he were to bring Heaven to Armenia instead of Christ's statue, there would still be individuals and groups speaking out against it.

'There would also be people who would order and organize public sentiments against it. I envisioned all of this very clearly from the start, and my approach has always been to respectfully consider all well-argued suggestions and objections, personally respond to many of them, and listen to all reasoned comments. I have great respect for the voice of the Armenian Apostolic Church and, once again, taking this opportunity, I emphasize that this is not a church initiative,' he underscores.

The leader of the Prosperous Armenia party ensures that the statue idea has received overwhelming support from the public, and numerous sculptors and architects participated in the competition, with whom he has had ongoing discussions and listened to their input.
