Conditions for Transferring and Preserving Soldiers' Bodies Not Established by Any Regulation, Prosecutor Says

No normative legal act has established the rules for preserving the bodies and remains of soldiers, according to Prosecutor Petros Petrosyan in a conversation with journalists, as reported by News.am.

Today, the latest session of the criminal case concerning the bodies and remains of fallen soldiers placed in polyethylene bags on the floor of the Abovyan morgue was held. Petrosyan is the prosecutor in this case.

"No normative legal act has established the rules for preserving bodies and remains, or the conditions for their transfer. This is a sad fact, but it is the reality. In the absence of such regulations, it is impossible for legal specialists to hold any official accountable," Petrosyan stated.

Meanwhile, Zhirayr Margaryan's mother, Mrs. Nairan, told reporters after the meeting that she had not been questioned as a witness at all. "If before it was not the state's concern that children ended up in this condition, now it is again an insult to us that the opened case was closed. I buried my child again; my pain was very strong and cruel. My son continually came to me in dreams; he sought peace. I wanted to find my son in any situation to bury him so that he could find his peace," said the mother.

It should be noted that the parents of the fallen soldiers are demanding accountability for those who stored their sons' bodies and remains in such a manner in the basement of the Abovyan morgue. The next court session will be held on August 3, during which the court's decision will be announced.

Additionally, a photograph circulated on social media that caused a significant uproar among the public, showing remains of soldiers thrown on the floor in polyethylene bags at the Abovyan morgue.
