Staff Purge in the Ministry of Defense: What to Expect

The "Zhoghovurd" newspaper reports that according to its information, a large-scale staff purge will begin today in the Ministry of Defense of Armenia. As is known, yesterday the National Assembly adopted, with 58 votes in favor, the government-proposed package of amendments to the "Law on Defense" in its second reading and fully.

According to these changes, the head of the Armed Forces General Staff will become the first deputy of the Minister of Defense. This decision has already changed the situation in the Ministry of Defense. The fact is that both in the General Staff and in the ministry, officials are anxiously waiting to see what fate awaits them.

It is a fact that many officials will be dismissed and new appointments will be made, so we can expect new developments in the Armenian armed forces, where stresses are continuously succeeding one another.
