In Case of Confiscation of Gagik Khachatryan's Mansion in Los Angeles, Funds Will Be Transferred to Armenia
There is an understanding between the law enforcement agencies of Armenia and the United States that in case of the confiscation of Gagik Khachatryan's property, the funds will be transferred to Armenia. This was stated by Gohar Abrahamyan, an advisor to the Prosecutor General, in an interview with Azatutyun.
Recall that the 66-year-old Khachatryan is accused by Armenian authorities of receiving a $20 million bribe from businessman Sedrak Arustamyan and using that money to acquire a huge mansion in Los Angeles.
Earlier, American journalist Matthew Hamelton wrote an article about Gagik Khachatryan’s mansion, who served as Armenia’s former Minister of Finance and former head of the State Revenue Committee. According to him, a mansion of this style reminiscent of French palaces is exceedingly large by Los Angeles standards. Such houses are called mega mansions. The area of the mansion is about 3,000 square meters. The house is designed for the Khachatryan family, with rooms for all family members.
In an interview with the media, the journalist confirmed that the mansion previously belonged to the head of Lions Gate Entertainment film studio.
