Citizens Raise Alarm Over Electric Scooters in Yerevan
Recently, there has been much discussion regarding the emergence of electric scooters on the streets of Yerevan. Citizens are raising concerns about safety when these scooters are operated in crowded areas.
"Watch your scooters... One day someone will die, and with an innocent face, you will look at this from that perspective. This child seemed to have no issues, but next time you might get hit in the situation," wrote user Ashot Barseghyan on his Facebook page, reporting that a scooter rider injured a little boy.
In the comments, other users shared similar incidents. "They hit my car too," wrote user Arthur Khachatryan.
User Kristina Nazaryan noted, "A few days ago, around ten in the evening, I twisted my ankle because of them so badly that I thought I had broken it. I spent money taking pictures to assure myself that there were no fractures or cracks. Who is going to be responsible for this?"
User Zara Khachatryan added, "The problem is not with the scooters but with their users. In Europe, eco-transport has long been an accepted means, yet we have not witnessed any complaints because the users are Homo sapiens, and the cities are well-equipped. The solution to the issue does not lie in removing the scooters but rather in the relevant departments of the city hall that are asleep at the wheel and, of course, the cognitive limitations of some individuals."
