Putin Supports Proposal to Equate Status of Luhansk and Donetsk Soldiers with Russian Counterparts
The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, has defended the idea of equating the status of soldiers from the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) and the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) with that of their Russian counterparts. He spoke about this during a meeting with the leadership of the State Duma and heads of parliamentary factions.
“As for equating LPR and DPR soldiers with Russian servicemen, I fully support this. Moreover, it is practically being implemented. If there are certain aspects that have not yet been finalized, we must see to them and ensure they are completed,” Putin stated.
He noted that the same applies to border guards, adding that a proposal has been put forward by the Federal Security Service and he has agreed to it.
Earlier, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin had stated during a meeting with President Putin that the decision to launch the special operation prevented a catastrophe.
