Victims of Explosion at Ashtarak's 'UniBank' Transferred to Yerevan
The cause of the explosion in Ashtarak is believed to be a gas leak, according to initial reports from the Investigative Committee of Armenia, as confirmed to Sputnik Armenia.
The Ashtarak Medical Center stated that some of the victims have been transferred to Yerevan. "At this moment, we cannot provide accurate information about the condition of the victims. There are injured individuals, some of whom have been moved to Yerevan," a representative from the medical center said.
It is currently unclear how many of the injured continue to receive treatment in Ashtarak and how many have been transferred to medical institutions in Yerevan. The medical center promised to provide definitive information regarding the victims' conditions later.
Recall that this morning at 9:07 AM, the regional crisis management center in Aragatzotn received a call reporting an explosion at one of the banks in Ashtarak, which led to a fire outbreak. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia reported that preliminary data indicates one person has died and five have been injured as a result of the explosion. The victims have been hospitalized at the Ashtarak Medical Center. The fire was extinguished by 9:25 AM, and household items covering an area of 3 square meters were burned in the lobby.
