Sweden Responds to Erdoğan's Statements

The Swedish Minister of Justice, Morgan Johansson, has responded to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's statement that Ankara will await the extradition of 73 'terrorists' as part of the agreement for Sweden's accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

'The decisions regarding the extradition of individuals to other countries are made by an independent court,' Johansson stated, according to Sky News Arabia.

The Swedish minister specifically noted that the extradition of individuals who are not Swedish citizens can only occur upon a request from another country if it complies with Swedish legislation and the European Convention on Extradition. At the same time, Johansson emphasized that no Swedish citizen can be extradited.
