VIDEO: Biden Welcomes Switzerland's NATO Membership Instead of Sweden
U.S. President Joe Biden welcomed the membership of Finland and Switzerland into NATO, mistakenly confusing it with Sweden, reports The Guardian.
During a press conference in Madrid, the U.S. leader misrepresented the facts but quickly realized his error. "Switzerland. God, I'm really excited about NATO's expansion, Sweden," he added.
In his speech, Biden emphasized that the NATO summit aims to strengthen the alliance while drawing the attention of countries to the issues and threats of the modern world they will face in the future. Biden also assured that Washington is prepared to defend "every inch" of NATO territory.
