I Resign at This Moment: Tadevos Avetisyan
Member of the National Assembly from the "Hayastan" faction, Tadevos Avetisyan, wrote:
“Dear compatriots, Armenia is rapidly distancing itself from democratic values. The shadow of authoritarianism has become a reality. The governance of the country is carried out exclusively at the whim of one individual. State institutions are subservient to despotism. The spread of fear and incapacity has become state policy. The public's ability to fight back is being destroyed under the guise of false agendas, limitless populism, and lies.
In this situation, Resistance has no alternative; unity and the fight for the homeland is the only way to prevent dispossession and to reach a historical new dawn for the Armenian people. This is the real and sole agenda.
Armenians must have the right to live sovereignly, to create, and to have the opportunity for sustainable development. Attempts are being made to weaken the resistance against this treacherous course by all means. Even now, following their own agenda, they are trying to silence opposition political forces by stripping them of administrative positions in the National Assembly. This will not happen. Consequently, Resistance will gain even more momentum.
For us, a position is not a goal. It is merely one of the means in the fight for our homeland. In short, we will fight until VICTORY, which makes a position or mandate nothing.
I have served my nation, and from now on, I will do so with even greater dedication, with all my potential, possibilities, and, most importantly, with unwavering determination.
And now, in response to the current authorities' latest attempts to silence us, I declare: I resign from the position of Deputy Chairman of the Permanent Committee on Labor and Social Issues of the National Assembly, effective immediately.
God help us. Victory is near. The Armenian HOMELAND endures.”
