«They have never stood out with brilliant minds»: Vahe Hakobyan on the authorities

“Since the decision to dismiss me and Ishkhan Saghatelyan is solely that of the so-called Civil Contract, it is nothing to me and does not concern me at all, even if it goes through the parliamentary procedural processes,” said Vahe Hakobyan, a member of the Armenia parliamentary group, in an interview with 24News, commenting on the decision by the Civil Contract faction to dismiss him and the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Ishkhan Saghatelyan.

“When this issue starts the process in the National Assembly, I will make a statement, but I can say that nothing will change in my life. I will remain in that position, whether I have a mandate or not; I will continue my struggle,” Hakobyan added.

When asked if it is possible for him to resign from the mandate, the MP mentioned that nothing was excluded. “The events are still developing; I will make my decision in September. I do not rule out that I will either resign my mandate or not, I might not go to the NA, or I might go.”

To the question of whether the reason stated by the authorities regarding the absences is true, and if that was a reason to dismiss him and Ishkhan Saghatelyan, the MP replied, “Of course, a reason was needed, but since they have never stood out with brilliant minds, I do not understand what it serves to dismiss us: that is their business; for me, the mandate and the position of committee chair are not a dream.”
