“Regardless of Everything, We Must Bypass Berdzor”: Arayik Harutyunyan

Today, during a session of the National Assembly of Artsakh, President Arayik Harutyunyan stated that the opportunity for Artsakh residents to live in Berdzor is very limited. “Regardless of everything, we must bypass Berdzor, and I consider the possibility for our compatriots to live in Berdzor in the future to be very low,” said the President of Artsakh.

Regarding the situation in Aghavno, the President mentioned that negotiations are ongoing. “That issue has not yet been discussed; we are negotiating. We have tasks related to Aghavno, and negotiations in that direction continue,” noted Arayik Harutyunyan.

Harutyunyan mentioned that he had conveyed to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that the issue of Aghavno is not being discussed, but negotiations are ongoing. He confessed that he is also against the policy of withdrawing from Berdzor. “I personally am not in favor; May 18 was one of the hardest days of my life because I also was one of the first group members who passed through the Lachin corridor on May 18, 1992. However, today the fate of our country is more important than emotions. I too oppose the political decision to withdraw from Berdzor. Please, let’s gather and decide. We have discussed it in the Security Council, and we consider that to be the best course of action. No one has done anything secretly. If we annul our decision, we must first announce that to the residents of the Republic of Artsakh, because regarding changes in the situation, politicians or officials living in Yerevan will not be held accountable; we will bear the heaviest consequences in moments, which I consider likely,” emphasized the President of Artsakh.
