Europe Suffers Far More than the U.S., Lavrov Comments
Europe is suffering far more from the sanctions encouraged by the U.S. against Russia than the U.S. itself, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“If you compare the sanctions that European countries impose against Russia and Belarus, and on the other hand, what the United States is applying, you will see that the United States, in general, spares itself and tries not to be very active in areas that could harm its economy,” Lavrov said at a press conference.
He emphasized that the U.S. is experiencing negative effects from its own sanctions, yet Europe is suffering much more. Therefore, Lavrov concluded, the aim of the sanctions pressured by the U.S. is not only to weaken Russia but also to undermine Europe as a competitor.
