It Is Known on Which Issues Yerevan and Baku Have Aligned Their Positions
The working group at the level of the Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia has managed to align the positions of Yerevan and Baku on many issues, particularly regarding border and customs controls. This was stated by Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan in an interview with TASS.
"I consider the activities of the trilateral working group on the unblocking of transport communications in the South Caucasus to be constructive. Of course, this is a complex task, but I must mention that the parties are managing to bring their positions closer on many issues regarding border and customs controls, as well as on the safe passage of citizens, vehicles, and cargoes through the roads and railways of Armenia and Azerbaijan," he said.
According to Grigoryan, "at this point, the expert subgroups continue to work on the issues related to the restoration and further use of road and rail infrastructure." The agreement on unblocking regional communications was reached on January 11, 2021, during a meeting of the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan in Moscow. Subsequently, it was decided to create a working group at the level of the Deputy Prime Ministers of the three countries, which would focus on establishing transport and economic ties in the region.
