Important: The Civil Contract Party Decides to Remove Ishkhan Saghatelyan from the Position of Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly

The Civil Contract Party has decided to remove opposition representative Ishkhan Saghatelyan from his position as Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, as well as to dismiss Vahe Hakobyan from the position of head of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Economic Affairs. This was announced by the ruling Civil Contract Party.

During the rally on June 24, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, one of the leaders of the Resistance Movement, reaffirmed that they will not return to parliament, and will only do so on their own agenda.

Earlier today, the Speaker of the National Assembly stated in a conversation with journalists that the Civil Contract Party would discuss the issue of stripping the mandates from opposition deputies who have been absent from sessions. While previously the ruling party was discussing the revocation of mandates, following the reopening of France Square, they did not rule out the possibility of introducing proposals to also revoke the Deputy Speaker's position from an opposition representative, as well as terminate the powers of opposition chairs in committees based on non-fulfillment of obligations.

Deputies from the two opposition factions preside over 3 of the 12 permanent committees.
