Driver of Truck Responsible for Deaths of 53 Migrants in the U.S. Faces Death Penalty
The driver of the truck that killed 53 migrants in the U.S. faces the death penalty, alongside two other individuals involved in the case who could face up to ten years in prison. This information was released in a press statement by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The driver of the ill-fated truck, identified as Homero Zamorano, has been charged with the illegal transportation of foreigners leading to death. If found guilty, Zamorano could face life imprisonment or possibly the death penalty, according to the Justice Department.
Additionally, charges have also been filed against Zamorano's accomplice, Christian Martinez. If convicted, he too faces either life imprisonment or the death penalty.
