Beer Made from Sewage Water to Be Sold in Singapore Stores
A beer made from recycled wastewater has begun to be sold in Singapore. According to a Bloomberg report, the alcoholic beverage called NEWBrew has already appeared on the shelves of local shops, Life.ru reports.
The beer, produced by Brewerkz Brewery in collaboration with Singapore's Public Utilities Board (PUB), uses water sourced from treatment plants. The water is disinfected using ultraviolet light and undergoes a special filtering process to remove harmful particles.
“NEWater is ideal for brewing because it has a neutral taste,” says Mitch Gribooun, the head brewer at Brewerkz. PUB experts believe that creating beer from sewage water will persuade Singaporeans about the importance of rational consumption and resource reuse.
