When Will Georgia Join NATO?

NATO is not ready to announce any timeline for Georgia's potential membership in the alliance but remains committed to previous promises, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg following the first day of the NATO summit in Madrid. This was reported by РИА Новости.

“Regarding the open door policy, we are committed to the promises made at the summit (in Bucharest), but we are not ready to specify any deadlines,” he stated in response to a question about when Georgia might expect an invitation to join NATO.

It is worth recalling that NATO countries confirmed at the Bucharest summit in 2008 that Georgia and Ukraine have the right to join the alliance, while the decision on this issue was postponed indefinitely.
