It Is Necessary, It Is Fair: Zelensky Calls on the UN
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged the United Nations to recognize Russia as a "terrorist state" and to exclude it from the UN Security Council, where the Russian Federation is a permanent member, TASS reports.
"Russia has no right to participate in discussions and voting on issues concerning the war in Ukraine," Zelensky stated while addressing a meeting of the UN Security Council convened at Ukraine's initiative.
"I call on you to strip the terrorist state’s delegation of its powers in the UN General Assembly. This is possible, it is necessary, it is fair. Russia has no right to remain in the UN Security Council. We must hold Russia accountable for terrorism. It is necessary to provide a legal assessment of the concept of 'state terrorism' at the UN level; all of Russia's actions must receive legal evaluation and global sanctions for undermining the world legal order," the Ukrainian president added.
