Israeli Prime Minister to Resign

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett will not participate in the upcoming Knesset (the country's parliament) elections and will leave his position. This is reported by Reuters.

It is noted that Bennett informed members of his Yamina party about this decision. The information has been confirmed by the press secretary of the Israeli government.

In a statement made before the Knesset's vote on dissolving the parliament and preparing for new elections, it was indicated that Bennett would retain the position of Deputy Prime Minister after his coalition partner, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, assumes the role of Prime Minister.

The Jewish Chronicle adds that Bennett will retire at the end of this year.
