Gas Theft on the Rise in the U.S.

Gas theft cases at gas stations in the United States have significantly increased compared to 2021 amid record prices. This was stated by Jeff Lanard, a representative of the Association of Convenience Stores and Retail Fuel Dealers, in an interview with РИА Новости.

“This figure is certainly higher compared to 2021. Every time prices go up, criminals show great interest in making money off the situation,” Lanard explained.

As previously reported by American publications, amid record fuel prices at U.S. gas stations, there has been a rise in theft incidents. The stolen gasoline is often resold by the perpetrators at lower prices.
