High-Profile Case in Yerevan: Motion Filed for Detention of 3 Senior Police Officials

Earlier today, senior investigators from the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia arrived at the Ajapnyak District Court of General Jurisdiction in Yerevan, where closed court sessions are set to take place.

According to Shamshyan.com, the investigators will be filing a motion with the court for a two-month detention order as a preventive measure against three senior police officials.

Reportedly, one of these officials is the head of a police division in one of the regions of the republic, another is the deputy head in charge of operations, and the third is the head of the division's criminal investigation unit.

If the court grants the motion from the anti-corruption investigators, the senior police officials will be transferred to the “Vardashen” penitentiary facility, commonly referred to as the “militia prison.”

In the interest of the investigation, we are withholding the names and certain details of the senior officials and the circumstances of the case.

Further details will be available on our website.
