G7 Decides to Allocate Additional Funds to Protect Vulnerable Countries from Hunger
The countries of the "Group of Seven" have committed to allocate an additional $4.5 billion to protect the most vulnerable populations from hunger and malnutrition, according to a statement from the leaders of the G7.
"We are committed to providing an additional $4.5 billion to protect the most vulnerable populations from hunger and malnutrition," the statement reads. As a result, the total amount of funding the G7 will allocate this year for global food security exceeds $14 billion, the document notes.
"We will combat any speculative behavior that threatens food security or the availability of food for vulnerable countries or populations," G7 leaders stated.
